Mr. Gavito is a native of Brownsville, Texas. His practice includes civil and business litigation throughout Texas. He has extensive litigation experience in cases involving construction defects.
He graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Legal Studies. Mr. Gavito then attended St. Mary’s University School of law where he graduated in 2004 at the top of his law school class. He was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi Honors Fraternity. While in law school, Mr. Gavito was an associate editor for the St. Mary’s Law Journal. He began his legal training while still in law school. As a student-attorney for the St. Mary’s Law School Civil Justice Clinic, he provided pro bono legal services for low-income individuals. As a result of his exceptional work with the Clinic, he received the Francisco Leos Award for Excellence in Clinical Studies.
Mr. Gavito was licensed to practice in Texas in November 2004. Michael spent a number of years working for prominent civil litigation defense firms in Central and South Texas, focusing primarily on construction defect litigation. He recently joined Gravely & Pearson, LLP, where he is applying his knowledge and expertise in defense litigation to better serve business and residential property owners in prosecuting construction defect claims against contractors, architects, and engineers. Mr. Gavito’s predominant ability is being able to anticipate defense strategies and take appropriate steps to minimize or defeat defense attempts to limit or reduce a property owner’s recovery. Mr. Gavito has extensive experience analyzing AIA form agreements between owners and contractors and architects. He has extensive experience litigating multi-party construction defect cases. He represents school districts, hospitals, and other property owners throughout Texas assisting them in recovering damages resulting from substandard design and construction of various building systems including, but not limited to, roofing, exterior wall envelope, masonry, plumbing, HVAC, windows, foundation, and electrical systems.
Mr. Gavito is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing tennis. Mr. Gavito is very active with the United States Tennis Association and the Greater San Antonio Adult League Tennis Organization.
Michael is licensed to practice in Texas and in the Southern and Western Districts of Texas – U.S. District Courts, as well as Oklahoma.
Michael resides in San Antonio, Texas with his wife and their three adorable dogs.
